The Rigid and Controlling Marriage: A Partner's Guide to OCPD, Boundaries, and Reclaiming Your Life - Paperback

by Willard Mario Nixon (Author)

Does your marriage feel like a constant performance review?

Are you exhausted from "walking on eggshells" around a spouse who insists there is only "one right way" to do everything? Do you feel criticized, micromanaged, and emotionally disconnected?

You might assume your partner is just a perfectionist or a "control freak." But these behaviors-the rigid routines, the obsession with details, the sudden anger when things don't go perfectly-may indicate something deeper: Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD).

Living with an OCPD partner is uniquely challenging. Their need for absolute control often leads to conflict, loneliness, and the erosion of your self-esteem. You want the relationship to work, but you are tired of sacrificing your own needs and peace of mind.

The Rigid and Controlling Marriage is the comprehensive survival guide written specifically for the partners of individuals with OCPD. This book offers validation, clarity, and practical strategies to help you break the cycle of control and reclaim your life.

Inside this essential guide, you will discover:

The crucial difference between OCPD and OCD-and why it explains your partner's inability to see their behavior as a problem.

Hallmarks of the OCPD Spouse: Recognize the impact of workaholism, extreme frugality, and the "one right way" mentality.

The Hidden Anxiety: Understand the deep-seated fears driving the control and perfectionism.

Manipulation Tactics: How to identify gaslighting, guilt-tripping, and the "moving goalpost" phenomenon that leaves you feeling nothing is ever good enough.

Boundaries, Not Battles: The essential first step to protecting your well-being. Learn how to set and enforce boundaries clearly and firmly.

Effective Communication Strategies: Techniques to de-escalate conflict, avoid the unwinnable "logic battle," and express your needs effectively.

Navigating the Daily Grind: Practical solutions for managing conflicts over finances, chores, parenting, and vacations.

Reclaiming Your Identity: How to detach your self-worth from their approval, rebuild your support system, and prioritize radical self-care.

If you are tired of the criticism and ready to stop the cycle of control, The Rigid and Controlling Marriage provides the roadmap you need to find peace and empowerment.
