The Photographer's Guide to Portrait Perfection - Paperback

by Harv Greenberg (Author)

If you've seen stunningly beautiful portraits on gallery walls, in books, and on social media and wondered how they were made but didn't know where to begin, this is the book for you.

If you're interested in creating powerful portraits of women that evoke emotion, portraits that make viewers feel something extraordinary and stop people from scrolling, portraits that are made with a camera and not artificial intelligence, then once again, this is the book for you. Throughout his book, Los Angeles-based fine art photographer Harv Greenberg, M.D., shares his insights through inspiring words and images.

This book is divided into four sections, each providing an in-depth discussion of the necessary processes that occur before, during, and after the shoot. Twenty-nine headshot and portrait "recipes" are also presented, including correlative portraits and 3-D graphic renderings of the studio lighting setups. Step-by-step instructions on communicating, photographing, and performing basic edits are provided, including a detailed outline of the editing process for three portraits, from the straight-out-of-the-camera image to the final edited version. Ten practical exercises are also provided to help readers progress more quickly toward making emotionally impactful portraits. Cameras and lenses, exposure control, natural light and strobes, posing, and the secrets to success on social media are also discussed.

With a wealth of knowledge and inspiration, The Photographer's Guide to Portrait Perfection is the book that will take you from shooting snapshots with your smartphone to creating something magical!
