The Mixing Bowl - Paperback

by Donna Lynn Lito (Author)

A captivating and heartwarming novel about three generations of strong women, each unapologetically forging ahead in times of strife to fulfill the dream of opening a bakery in South Carolina.

An immersive and sometimes emotional story that tests familial bonds and leaves a lasting impact on history.

Each generation confronts unique challenges and obstacles while upholding its values.

Isabel, hailing from a rural town in South Carolina, is surrounded by difficult men who refuse to acknowledge the role of an entrepreneurial woman.

Struggling to remain in her beloved town, Isabel leaves the place she cherishes to start anew. She feels torn, but must she continually surrender to societal pressures that dictate who she should be?

Giving new life to her daughter Cara, Isabel teaches her to be fearless and always pursue her dreams, some of which are undoubtedly in the young girl's blood.

Unbridled love and boundless courage bring Cara much closer to fulfilling the dream than Isabel could ever have achieved, yet even she is caught in what appears to be an endless struggle.

Will she ever get the break she seeks despite society's imposed limitations? One thing is certain: Cara will fight to pursue her family's goals and aspirations.

When Cara's daughter Maggie is born, she is presented with opportunities that Cara and Grandma Isabel could only have dreamed of. Ultimately, Maggie uncovers hidden family secrets that completely alter the women's legacy, leading to an outcome that no one could have foreseen.

The Mixing Bowl reveals the beautiful intricacies and harsh complexities of relationships. In this inspirational story, each woman capably clings to her soul's narrative while remaining devoted to the dreams binding together generations of strong, irrepressible, and visionary women.
