The Melancholy Moon - Paperback

by Glenda C. Manus (Author)

Funny, witty Cassandra Phillips has reason to be cynical. Life has dealt her numerous blows so she's put up an impenetrable wall around her own heart. Jilted by her husband for another woman, she now faces what she calls "the Big C" diagnosis, proof enough that even God has deserted her. Independent and strong-willed, she's determined to fight this battle alone, but when the pounds start melting away because of the chemo, her big sister steps in and whisks her away under the guise of a summer vacation. She coddles and cares for her like a mother hen, willing her to get well. The lively seaport town revives her soul as well as her body, and all goes well until a blue-eyed mystery man moves in next door to the little house they've rented. Sparks literally fly when they're together and she's both intrigued and suspicious when she surmises that he may have ties to a drug smuggling operation. Is it true, or is it her writer's imagination working overtime that makes her think so? Whoever this man is, his blue eyes have cast a spell upon her heart. Just when it appears he's equally smitten with her, things go terribly wrong when drugs, greed and wrong choices threaten to tear their worlds apart. Finding God again may be the last thing on her mind, but it may be the only thing that can save her.
