The Meaning of Christmas - Paperback

by James Philip (Author)

The warm glow we feel at Christmas is more than sentiment; it is because of the real message of Christmas - Immanuel, God with us.

Christ's coming is the epicentre of the Bible's message: 'When the fullness of the time was to come, God sent forth his Son....' It is the story of all Creation being renewed and coming to fulfilment through a man - The Man - Christ Jesus, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, of the Father's love begotten.

Such is the real meaning of Christmas.

This book is a series of meditations on the real message, and meaning, of Christmas. Taking some of the most familiar words from the Bible commonly associated with the Christmas season, they seek to unpack not just the familiar story of the nativity, but its true and abiding significance for our world. First published in 1971 (and several times thereafter) but long since out of print, my hope in producing this revised edition is that many more will find both light and delight in the meaning of Christmas.
