The Masked Marksman #4: Top Billing for Murder - Paperback

by Emile C. Tepperman (Author), John Fleming Gould (Illustrator)

Meet Ed Race who made his trade as a vaudeville gun-juggler supreme, known on stage as "The Masked Marksman" and for handling six loaded .45s to the delight of the crowds. But when this line of work became too tedious, Race took advantage of his multi-state P.I. licenses to solve crimes across the country. This collection includes his next seven stories:

• Murder Misses Its Cue: Those Jordane killers set out to ruin Blountsville's first citizen, and kill his only son, to boot, but overlooked one little detail. Ed Race, the Masked Marksman, was performing hair-trigger tricks at the local theater-and was more than willing to give those thugs a command performance!
• Dead Man's Bullets: The one witness, who could save Ed Race's friend from the gallows, had been brutally shot down-his lips closed forever. But the Masked Marksman, whose trained guns were flaming magic, still knew the way to make the dead rise up and fight again!
• Corpse Without a Coffin: In the back of the girl's car lay the damning dead man. But Ed Race who, as the Masked Marksman, could juggle hair-trigger .45s, also knew another trick-how to pistol-whip a gang of greedy gunmen and make a foot-loose corpse go home!
• The Corpse Takes a Curtain Call: As the Masked Marksman, on the stage, Ed Race had been called upon to perform miracles with his .45s-but none as hair-raising as the time, in real life, when he faced a killer who blasted men into eternity before he had even fired a shot!
• Murder Matinee: The bloody curtain had gone up on the last grim act for old Mingo, the clown-but Ed Race, the Masked Marksman, knew how to ring that curtain down again with a happy ending blasted out by bullets!
• Death Books the Show: Ed Race, the Masked Marksman, had performed many stage-miracles with his blazing .45s, but nothing to equal the time when he teamed up with a girl acrobat to beat a murder-magician who had slated them for a slaying skit-in the role of certain corpses!
• Top Billing for Murder: Ten thousand dollars was what "Lucky" Linsey planned to collect from a corpse's check-until Ed Race, the Masked Marksman, horned in and canceled that check in hot lead!
