The Gospel Of Nicodemus Formerly Called The Acts Of Pontius Pilate - Hardcover

by Anonymous (Author)

The Gospel of Nicodemus, formerly called The Acts of Pontius Pilate, is an ancient text that recounts the events surrounding the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The book is believed to have been written in the 4th century AD and is attributed to an anonymous author. The text is divided into two parts, the first being the trial and crucifixion of Jesus, and the second being the descent into Hell and the resurrection. The first part of the book begins with the trial of Jesus before Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor of Judea. The Jewish leaders accuse Jesus of blasphemy and demand that he be put to death. Pilate, however, is hesitant to condemn Jesus and tries to find a way to release him. Despite his efforts, Jesus is ultimately sentenced to death by crucifixion. The second part of the book describes the events that occurred after Jesus' death. According to the text, Jesus descended into Hell and preached to the souls of the righteous who had died before his coming. He then rose from the dead on the third day, fulfilling the prophecies of the Old Testament. The Gospel of Nicodemus is not considered a canonical text by any major Christian denomination, but it has been influential in Christian literature and art throughout history. The book provides a unique perspective on the events of the crucifixion and resurrection and offers insight into early Christian beliefs about the afterlife. The Jews say to him, His blood be upon us and our children. Then Pilate calling together the elders and scribes, priests and Levites, saith to them privately, Do not act thus; I have found nothing in your charge (against him) concerning his curing sick persons, and breaking the Sabbath, worthy of death. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
