Back in the present, her brother asks David McBain to find her. David goes back and locates her with Cav Cavanaugh, an American pilot who loves her jokes and dances with her like the war might end tomorrow. David ruins her punch lines and irritates her, but when they dance, the sparks are impossible to ignore. David is forced to keep his distance, telling himself that Cav is the reason the brooch brought her to 1944. His job is to bring her and her soul mate home.

Author Biography

Katherine grew up in Virginia and Kentucky and attended college in New Jersey, where she earned a BA in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice. After attending the Philadelphia Institute for Paralegal Training, she returned to Central Kentucky and worked as a real estate and tax paralegal. Several years ago, Katherine decided to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming an author. Being a childhood fan of THE TIME MACHINE and A CONNECTICUT YANKEE IN KING ARTHUR'S COURT, Katherine wanted to write time travel stories. Being a fan of PERRY MASON, she also wanted to write mysteries. But most of all, influenced by James Michener and having a passion for history, she wanted to write historical novels. Combining those influences, and drawing upon her early experiences working in the medical field, the plot line for THE RUBY BROOCH was born. Shortly after finishing the book, her husband died suddenly and the story went into a drawer for many years. With the assistance of a great team of editors, the book was released in 2012. Katherine's research has taken her out of the country to England and Scotland and this year to the beaches of Normandy and Paris. Recently, she visited the World War II Museum in New Orleans and the Mighty Eighth Museum in Savannah, and topped the trip off with a flight aboard Texas Raiders, a World War II B-17. Katherine is the mother of two daughters and the grandmother of Charlotte, Lincoln, James Cullen, Henry, and Meredith. She is also a marathoner and ran this year's New York City Marathon on November 1. She lives in Lexington, Kentucky.
