The Case for Dual Loyalty - Paperback

by Nolan Lebovitz (Author)

It is high time for Jews to set aside their age-old qualms about the charge of dual loyalty and proudly embrace their commitment to both America and the Jewish homeland.

"Written with passion and grace, The Case for Dual Loyalty deserves a space on the short shelf of indispensable books on contemporary American Jewry."-Yossi Klein Halevi, Senior Fellow, Shalom Hartman Institute, Jerusalem

"With both eloquence and erudition, Rabbi Nolan Lebovitz makes a powerful case for American Jews to care for-indeed to love-both America and Israel."-Rabbi David Wolpe, Max Webb Emeritus Rabbi of Sinai Temple, Author of Why Faith Matters and David: The Divided Heart

In The Case for Dual Loyalty, author Nolan Lebovitz challenges one of the oldest taboos in American Jewish life through the concept of "dual loyalty." It is not only about supporting Israel-as many synagogues already proudly wave the flag of the Jewish state-but also expressing loyalty to our Jewish peoplehood as a foundational principle of our identity, no less than our loyalty to America. Denying dual loyalty serves the Jewish community no more. Following the events of October 7 and its aftermath, Lebovitz reveals how proudly declaring Jewish loyalty forges a new path forward. This is a path imbued with pride of peoplehood and collective destiny, based on the lessons of our sacred texts, our history, and a shared vision of the future.
