The Autistic Adult's Toolbox: Real Tools for Real Life-Because "Just Try Harder" Isn't a Strategy

Being autistic in a neurotypical world can be confusing, exhausting, and frustrating-especially when you're expected to navigate situations shaped by unwritten rules and invisible expectations.

The Autistic Adult's Toolbox changes that.

Written by Natalie Diggins-an autistic technologist with decades of lived experience and a career built on solving complex systems-this strengths-based guide offers real-world, step-by-step tools to help you move through life with more clarity, confidence, and calm.

Reading it feels like having a conversation with a trusted friend-someone who understands your challenges and genuinely wants you to succeed.

Inside, you'll find practical tools like:

• A doctor visit template for communicating your needs clearly
• A jury duty checklist with guidance for requesting accommodations
• A script builder for sharing that you're autistic-and responding to disbelief, curiosity, or support
• A social event comfort matrix to plan, pace, and protect your energy
• Checklists, self-assessments, and conversation starters you can use right away

All presented in a thoughtfully designed format that includes:

• Chapter summaries for quick reference
• Highlighted takeaways for easier recall
• Visual supports that reduce decision fatigue and cognitive overload

You don't need to change who you are.

You just need tools that make life easier.

The Autistic Adult's Toolbox isn't just a toolbox-it's an act of advocacy. Whether you're newly diagnosed, long aware, or somewhere in between, this book will help you build a life that works not despite your neurotype, but because of it.
