Saved My Soul, Made Me Whole: From the Club to the Calling

By Archbishop Jean Wilson

She wasn't supposed to make it here. But grace had other plans.

In Saved My Soul, Made Me Whole, Archbishop Jean Wilson delivers more than a memoir-it's a spirit-filled roadmap of radical transformation, resilience, and divine alignment. Told in her unmistakable voice, Jean opens the door to her life story-inviting us into moments most would keep hidden. From the poverty of her childhood to a young life shaped by rebellion, hardship, and survival, she reveals how the presence of God never left her-even when she wasn't looking for it.

But this isn't just a story of salvation. This is a story of elevation.

Over and over again, people tried to block her-religious leaders who couldn't see her worth, institutions that denied her opportunities, and systems that had no room for a Black woman called to lead. But every "no" became a setup for something greater. Jean didn't chase titles. She didn't network her way into favor. She followed the voice of God-and that voice took her further than credentials ever could.

Through powerful storytelling, Jean recalls the life-changing moment when a chance encounter with a major white pastor opened doors into one of the largest, most prestigious Methodist churches in the country. No pitch. No platform. Just divine alignment. He had prayed for a Black pastor to join his team, and there she was-sent by God, not man.

From the inner-city streets of Mount Vernon to the sanctuaries of Kansas, Indiana, and Kenya, Jean walked through doors no one expected her to enter-and stood with authority. In every chapter, she testifies to a God who lifts up the overlooked, calls the unlikely, and prepares seats at tables no one thought you'd ever see.

In this book, you will discover:

• How Jean rose through rejection and found purpose in every detour
• What it means to be divinely positioned in rooms where your name wasn't even on the list
• The spiritual and emotional cost of saying "yes" to God's call-through family loss, ministry politics, and personal sacrifice
• How favor found her again and again-without striving, just by being obedient

This is the story of a woman who should have been counted out-but was chosen anyway. Saved My Soul, Made Me Whole is for anyone who's ever been told they weren't enough... and are ready to see what happens when heaven says otherwise.
