Sandcastles and Second Chances - Paperback

by Lianne James (Author)

Sometimes life gives you a second chance because you weren't ready the first time...

At forty-nine-years-old, it's safe to say life didn't turn out the way Lucinda Flowers hoped it would. Her husband ran off with her sister-in-law, and her grown children don't come around much. When her sister, Sharon, calls with bad news, Lucinda boards a plane back to the one place she vowed to never return: home to Turtle Island.

Jim Barnes is Lucinda's long-lost high school boyfriend. She doesn't know it yet, but he's been secretly keeping in touch with her eccentric mother, Goldie, for decades. When his estranged wife goes missing in North Carolina, Jim returns to Turtle Island, hoping to dodge the web sleuths labeling him a wife-killer.

The Pink Octopus, Lucinda's family's cottage rental business, is in trouble. If it sinks, not only will her mother, brother, and sister be out of jobs, but the entire family will be scattered to the high winds. Everyone pitches in to help save the business-including Jim-and while Lucinda isn't amused by her mother's matchmaking skills, she can't deny that he looks better than ever. Still, she can't fall in love with someone accused in his wife's disappearance. Unless she never fell out of love with him to begin with. Can Lucinda and Jim figure out what happened to his ex-wife before he's arrested on suspicion of murder? Can they save The Pink Octopus before it goes belly-up, separating the newly reunited family? For the first time in ages, Lucinda has a sense of purpose and a reason to believe in love, but will the rug soon be pulled out from under her?

Is it ever too late to hit the reset button and start your love life over again?
