• Teaching Suggestions identifying skills to highlight, noting study sheets that complement the activity sheet, and offering tips on implementation.
• Study Sheets with concise information on specific topics, such as How to Solve Analogies, Ways to Build Your Vocabulary, and Breaking Down a Story into Parts.
• Activity Sheets that are presented sequentially with an emphasis on those skills that appear on standardized tests. For example, Section 3 presents reading skills through selections on realistic fiction, persuasive essays, biographical sketches, poetry, and more.

Author Biography

Gary Robert Muschla (B.A. and M.A.T., Trenton State College) taught reading and writing for over 20 years at Appleby School in Spotswood, New Jersey. He is the author of several practical resources for teachers, including The Writing Teacher's Book of Lists (1992), and Writing Workshop Survival Kit (1993), English Teacher's Great Books Activities Kit (1994) and Reading Workshop Survival Kit (1997), all published by Jossey-Bass.
