Private Confessions: A 1968 Mystery - Paperback

by Gunter Kaesdorf (Author)

In 1968 on the South Side of Chicago, as the city braces for the Democratic National Convention and the police fight corruption, the death of a local priest turns a young teen's summer upside down. Gary looks forward to this last summer before starting high school. No more nuns watching his every step. No more daily Mass. And most of all, no more Father Kozar. Little did he know. He should have been riding bikes, playing baseball, or just hanging around the neighborhood with his friends. If only he hadn't forgotten to pick up his diploma, he wouldn't have been near the church when they learned Father Kozar died. If only he hadn't ventured to that forbidden place with his friend Callaghan. If only the police would leave him alone. Gary, with the help of his friends, must uncover the truth behind the pastor's death before the police close in on him and Callaghan. Along the way, Gary learns more than he could have expected, as the lives of new friends and acquaintances begin to unravel around him.
