Nutritious and Delicious: A Fruitful Conversation for Kids - Hardcover

by Leanne de Souza-Kenney (Author)

Nutritious and Delicious, A Fruitful Conversation for Kids is about the foundations of making food choices. This book started as a life lesson, born in the throes of parenting amidst a late night, frantic trip to the grocery store with a crying newborn, overtired toddler, a pregnant Mom and a frustrated Dad - all sleep-deprived and time-deprived, with Mom and Dad desperately trying to portray composure and conscious parenting. Perhaps leaving the kids at home would have been a better choice - but where would they think the food came from? how and why were particular foods chosen? It was clear that a trip to the grocery store was more than a mere errand, it was setting the foundation for sustenance and life, it was chartering a genetic, physical, life course trajectory. It started with a game to hold the attention of the children, to have them think about which foods were selected to take into their home and why. Before they knew it, the conversation went beyond discussing local fruit, it was a new life lesson, that promised to be meaningful and fruitful. Nutritious and Delicious, A Fruitful Conversation for Kids is a short guide, a foundational conversation for lessons that families can revisit to set their kids up for a nutritious and delicious future.
