Monkey Magic: The Curse of Mukada - Paperback

by Grant Clark (Author)

The animal world is in peril. Can 11-year-old Romy Alexander use her mysterious power to save the day?

"A beautifully written tale of good vs evil that will inspire its readers to join the fight to save the orangutan and help save the earth, too." NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC KIDS

On a trip of a lifetime with her scientist dad to the lush rainforests of Borneo, Romy awakens on a steamy night to discover a secret about herself - and to learn that she alone can help break a curse that has brought misery to generations of orangutans.

"Cleverly woven with delicious subplots. A real page-turner." KIDS' BOOK REVIEW

Nominated for the Hedwig Anuar children's book of the year award, The Curse of Mukada has been enjoyed in classrooms and homes around the world prior to its release in Europe and the U.S. in 2021. The Monkey Magic series both entertains kids and informs about the plight of endangered species.

Children love the book because it's thrilling, fun and they have a close affinity to the natural world; teachers love it because it helps to explain conservation, rainforests and how humans impact the planet.

Part III follows the London girl to America in The Ghostly Thieves of New York for another page-turner-with-a-message that begins with a series of ghoulish break-ins at Manhattan's famous galleries and museums.

"My son loved this book and is even more inspired to become a Wildlife Warrior!" TERRI IRWIN, naturalist

"A gripping adventure with an important message." JEREMY STRONG, bestselling author

"This delightful, magical tale shows us how greed can harm wildlife, and why we need to take immediate action to try to stop it. I highly recommend this enjoyable story with a great environmental message."

ALICE BERGER, Bergers Reviews

"I've always loved an engaging story that also teaches - parents, teachers and librarians will be similarly enthralled, for this very reason - but I'm also happy to say that kids won't become bogged down in a plot full of preaching. The messages are well done, the plot is well-crafted and the storyline is full of enough action, adventure, magic, baddies and goodies to make it a real page-turner." KIDS' BOOK REVIEW

"Highly recommended as a story telling resource for primary aged children - one which takes them on an adventure to the jungles of Borneo to meet the orangutans and also one that inspires thought regarding the current conservation issues of illegal logging in Indonesia and protection of the jungles and the orangutans natural habitat." JULIE NEWNHAM, Australian author and teacher
