When a suburban mother decided to chase her dream of becoming an author, she never imagined it would lead her into the dark, twisted world of homicide investigation. But a fateful phone call to LAPD's most decorated detective, John "Jigsaw" St. John, would change everything.

Over thirteen years, Jane Howatt shadowed Jigsaw through some of the most gruesome cases in Los Angeles history, documenting the brutal crimes of serial killers like Bill Bradford and Bill Bonin while uncovering the resilience of a man determined to bring justice to the victims.

Part memoir, part true crime, Jigsaw & Jane offers readers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the highs and lows of solving high-profile murders. From the gritty Mojave Desert, where evidence and tragedy collide, to the somber realities of the courtroom, Jane captures the raw intensity of life alongside a homicide detective. But this isn't just a story of crime; it's a story of transformation. As Jigsaw pieces together evidence to solve complex cases, Jane pieces together her own narrative-becoming the writer she never thought she could be.

Gripping, heart-wrenching, and filled with moments of unexpected humor, Jigsaw & Jane is more than a true-crime book. It's a testament to ambition, perseverance, and the power of human connection in the face of unimaginable darkness.

An unlikely friendship sets the stage for a touching true crime memoir...a heroic account of a celebrated homicide detective, a memoir of an odd couple friendship, and, most of all, a book about writing a book...the pair are as mismatched as they are engaging, but their bond is undeniable. - BookLife
