I'll Love Ye Forever: A Mother and Daughter's Journey Through Long Term Care - Paperback

by Sally K. Browne (Author)

Caring for an aging loved one requires navigating a labyrinth of policies, procedures, prejudices, and dangerous assumptions. Every twist and turn of events assaults the mind and heart with confusion, fear, anger, frustration, and a fatigue which threatens to exhaust one's very soul.

She told her daughter, "Shoot me first. Don't ever put me in a home."

She really didn't mean those words, but nobody questioned how adamant she was about not going into a nursing home. Long term care was definitely not in the plans, but in the end it became her reality.

I'll Love Ye Forever is not an exposé of nursing homes, rehab centers, or any institutional elder care in America, though it's packed with valuable information about how our health care system works. While the specific details of this story are unique to the Browne family, such overall frustration with elder care is being felt from coast to coast.

There are no pat answers in this book, but there are flashes of insight, small victories, and countless examples of courage. This is not a "how to" book. It is simply a mother and daughter's love story, and what they did to make the best of their journey through long term care.

For that reason, the truth and value of the story is best summarized in its very title, I'll Love Ye Forever.
