How The OLD & NEW Testaments Relate To Each Other - Paperback

by Robert A. Morey (Author)

This Book is paramount for Pastors and Theologians because of the confusion over Covenants and the Old & New Testaments and the Law. The relationship of Gentile Christians to "Mosaic Covenant" laws found in the Old Testament was the first controversy that threatened to split the infant Church. The Book of Acts records that the controversy became so heated that the Apostles had to hold an emergency meeting to debate the issues and give their ruling. The Epistle to Galatians reveals that the issues were not a mere "tempest in a teapot," but actually involved the nature of the Gospel itself. Dr. Morey cuts the Gordian knots and explains the relationship between the Covenants and the Testaments and examines Dispensationalism, Covenant Theology and Dominion Theology. He answers such questions such as "What about food laws under the Mosaic Covenant?" "Is the Sabbath for today?" Recommendations for Book "One of the most important works ever written in the history of the American Dispensationalism vs. Covenant Theology debate. Dr. Morey's groundbreaking work scholastically clarifies the nature and number of the covenants, dispensations, etc. Every pastor and every Bible student should read this!" Dr. Brian James Shanley, President Of Sovereign Grace Institute Of Apologetics "Dr. Morey's vast knowledge of the languages, texts, and times of both the Old and New Testaments come together to explain precisely how and in what ways they relate to each other. He has written a masterpiece for those who want to increase their knowledge and understanding of Scripture. His discussion of the nature and number of the covenants and the dispensations, the sabbath, the distinction between the covenants and the testaments, the law and the Torah, etc. are absolutely amazing. I enjoyed reading and learning from this book. Thank you, Dr. Morey, for another great book that very Bible student and pastor should read." Rev. Dr. Charles H. Christopher (B.A., M.Div., D.M.) "Why is the book entitled 'How the Old and New Testaments Relate to Each Other' by Dr. Morey so important to the Evangelical Church, especially Sabbatarians? Why is there so much confusion about the Old Testament? Dr. Morey clears up the misunderstandings by explaining the difference between the Old and New Testaments (a literary document) and 'Covenants' (agreements made in time and space). Dr. Morey reveals that that are four 'Covenants' in the Old Testament: 1. The Noahic Covenant; 2. The Abrahamic Covenant; 3. The Mosaic Covenant; and 4. The New Covenant. Only the 'Mosaic Covenant' was defective and obsolete and replaced by the 'New Covenant'! Because of the misunderstanding of equating the 'Old Testament' with the 'Old Covenant', this has led many Protestant/Evangelical churches and cults such as Herbert Armstrong's Worldwide Church of God adhering to food, civil and ceremonial laws (Sabbath keeping, Israel's festivals, etc.) in the 'Mosaic Covenant' and thinking that the 'New Covenant' is a polished version of the 'Mosaic Covenant'."
