Hello, Old Friend: A Resource Guide For Career Development - Paperback

by Mike Jones (Author)

The loss of a job, or searching for a new one, is undoubtedly one of life's greatest times of stress. From the dot-com collapse in 2000 to the great recession in 2008, unemployment quickly swelled and sent shockwaves across the nation. Over the last five years, no one has felt safe. No one was exempt from the recession's disastrous path. Hard-working, well-educated and quality-minded individuals from all business sectors, large and small firms, public and privately owned companies were affected. If you weren't directly affected, you knew of family or friends who had lost their jobs, or were within the vast pool of people trying to find employment. Mike Jones found himself and his firm sitting squarely in the center of the storm. He and his firm have provided assistance to hundreds of people, resulting in the development of a framework that is now being shared on a larger scale with you. Across the spectrum that includes self-evaluation, confidence, networking, practice, perfecting your story and resume, and coaching and interviewing, these topics and others are brought to light and detailed in this single resource guide to help you get organized and stay motivated. Fresh and candid stories along with discussion of what helps, what doesn't, and ways to improve your odds of finding the best job for you make this resource both your guide and companion. Keep it close to your side and know you are not alone in your journey. As the cover and pages become worn and tattered through age and use, I hope in reflection you will see yourself through the stories and will be able to say, "Hello, Old Friend."
