Fe Borg: A Dark Fairytale Tabletop Roleplaying Game - Hardcover

by Shawn G. Drake (Author), Navi C. Drake (Author)

The Otherworld is Dying

It is hungry, and snatching up everything it can, desperate for belief and sustenance. The Black Priests of the Hanged God are coming to shut the way to the Otherworld forever. But not before Fairyland is done with you.

Far from the edges of the firelight, and beyond the hawthorns there lies the Otherworld. Fairyland, the Wyld, the Lands Beneath or the Lands Beyond. Through the dark mirror of a thousand cautionary tales and children's stories that should never have been told to children, you already know it.

Because mirrors-even dark mirrors-do not work the way we think they do, it already knows you, too.

It waits just out of sight, fingers on your windowsill as you lie sleeping, dreaming your human dreams. In those unconscious, vulnerable hours, it feeds you glimpses of whimsy and abandon and wonders beyond anything your mortal brain could summon. Treasure, power, promises kept, and love conquering all. It will show you what you want most. It dangles adventure like a lure.

This is because it is hungry. Starving. Dying.

You are a morsel. A final meal and a stay of execution until the last bite. Only true brave hearts can satisfy. Yours will have to do.

Fe Borg runs on a stripped down OSR-style d20 system where characters roll up their Stats using the familiar 3d6 method and use those to roll against challenges with their own Difficulty Ratings. It's quick to pick up, easy to run, and perfect for getting to the table RIGHT NOW.

Pick from ten new classes you've only imagined in your strangest dreams as you embody the Stolen Child, Fairy Lover, Ironbound Fey, Genteel Bastard, Warrior Poet, Moonstruck Musician, Pact-Broken Warlock, True Druid, Nameless Hunter, or Pope Julius II (Your Holiness). Then pit your hapless mortal against a rogue's gallery of otherworldly creatures inspired by fairy tales both old and new.

Want an easy place to start? Unwind the mysteries and horrors of the Skinwitch's Grotto, a delightfully nightmare-fueled starting adventure included within the pages of Fe Borg.

"Seeking shelter from the driving rain, the village of Shadenbrook proved a kindly refuge through the drowning Downlands. A castaway croft of sheltering lost-souls carrying on in the Otherworld as they did in their own, they hosted you in haylofts and at their tables. They remember well when they fell through the world themselves, friendless and hopeless. Hospitality is all they have to offer.

But when the night falls, they lock their doors and shiver until sunrise. The young knight who kept their little hamlet safe from the depredations of chatterhounds and groughs has not returned from the Grotto to the west since he went looking for the lair of the thing of wicker and fire that burned their temple to ash..."
