Faith and Believing

Faith and Believing by Dr. Maxwell Shimba is a transformative exploration of the concepts of faith and belief within Christian theology. The book delves into the nuanced relationship between these two terms, demonstrating that while belief serves as the initial step in a Christian's journey, faith is what sustains and deepens that journey. Dr. Shimba carefully distinguishes between the intellectual acceptance of truths (belief) and a lived, transformative commitment to those truths (faith). With this foundation, he illustrates how faith leads to a trust that moves beyond mere acknowledgment, shaping both heart and action in a Christian's life.

Using scripture-based teachings, Dr. Shimba unpacks how faith and belief each play distinct roles in salvation, sanctification, and daily Christian living. Through biblical stories and character studies-from Thomas the doubter to the woman with the issue of blood-he shows how belief often serves as a gateway to a deeper, more active faith. His analysis includes key Bible passages such as James 2 and Ephesians 2, which address the relationship between faith, works, and belief, clarifying some of the most commonly misunderstood aspects of the Christian faith. By grounding each concept in biblical principles, Dr. Shimba provides a clear path for readers to not only understand but also apply these insights to their own faith journeys.

Dr. Shimba's Faith and Believing is both a theological guide and a practical resource for personal growth. He offers structured expository studies, complete with commentary and cross-references from Strong's Concordance, for deeper understanding and study. The book encourages readers to cultivate a living faith that goes beyond intellectual belief, growing through prayer, scripture, and action. Ideal for individuals and study groups alike, Faith and Believing invites readers to engage with faith as a powerful, life-changing force that draws them closer to God and aligns their lives with His will.
