by Ed Brubaker (Author), Pablo Raimondi (Illustrator), Alex Ross

The full origins of Marvel's most iconic and enduring villain, Doctor Doom, are revealed - as told by Doctor Doom himself!

From five-time Eisner Award-winning writer Ed Brubaker and acclaimed artist Pablo Raimond, with iconic cover art by Alex Ross.

From the black steppes of Eastern Europe to the throne of Latveria, witness the complete untold story of Victor Von Doom. When a Roma child loses his sorceress mother to dark forces and watches his people suffer under a tyrant's rule, he makes a choice: master both science and sorcery, no matter the cost. His obsession leads to a catastrophic experiment, a fateful rivalry with Reed Richards, and ultimately the bloody conquest of an entire nation.

This story comes from Doom's own lips as he recounts his life to a journalist--but those who witnessed these events tell a very different tale. The truth lies somewhere between his ego and their fear.

This is the sweeping tragedy that reveals why Victor Von Doom's vanity consumes him and why he believes his dictatorship is justified. Perfect for MCU fans, readers who want to understand Marvel's most complex villain, and anyone who loves Brubaker's character-driven storytelling.

Author Biography

Ed Brubaker is one of the most acclaimed writers in comics, a multiple Eisner Award winner. Following fan-favorite runs on Scene of the Crime, Sleeper, Catwoman and Gotham Central for DC, he moved to Marvel. His Captain America relaunch, in which he controversially revived Bucky Barnes as the Winter Soldier, won over fans new and old, and his revisionist take on the history of Marvel's mutants in X-Men: Deadly Genesis resulted in a regular gig on Uncanny X-Men, Marvel's flagship X-title. He and longtime artistic collaborator Michael Lark took up the baton on Daredevil after Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev's legendary run concluded, and Brubaker jump-started Immortal Iron Fist with co-writer Matt Fraction and artist David Aja. Marvel's Icon imprint published Brubaker's creator-owned Criminal and Incognito, and he has gone on to further success at Image Comics with such titles as Fatale, Velvet and The Fade Out. Beyond comics, Brubaker has written for TV's Westworld and co-created the crime drama Too Old to Die Young.

A native of Argentina, Pablo Raimondi's pursuit of a professional comic-book career brought him to New York City, where the artist took on high-profile work drawing the quintessential American heroes Superman and Batman for DC Comics. For Marvel, Raimondi has collaborated with writer Ben Raab on Excalibur, and writer Peter David on Madrox and X-Factor. He is also well known for his outstanding work alongside writer Ed Brubaker on Books of Doom. In addition, Raimondi has paired with famed G.I. Joe and Wolverine writer Larry Hama on the original sci-fi comic-book series Oxido, published by Devil's Due.
