Defining Atlas - Paperback

by Stone Michaels (Author)

Editorial Reviews

Like the demigod from which it takes its name, Defining Atlas is a durable, uplifting volume. A strong current of self-affirmation, self-love, and self-confidence runs through this work, and readers will come away feeling their spirits improved. Sturdy, exuberant verse.

- The Kirkus Review

Stone Michaels's Defining Atlas contains poems that illuminate both the poet himself and the God he gives all glory to. In plainspoken language, Michaels praises God while exploring the everyday heartache we all endure. The result is a collection that many will find inspiring through its prayerful self-examination.

Defining Atlas brings together poems that look both upward toward heaven and at the earth beneath our feet. Within the collection, Michaels seems to shoulder the weight of his own burdens while seeking to show others a path that will lead to paradise.

About the Author

From a southern-raised adolescent to a military veteran to corporate America, Michaels believes that you should never be a victim of your circumstances but a victim of God's success! Like Atlas, it takes endurance to live life. He presses and challenges us to be more than our present. Growing up in a family comprised of ministers, veterans, nurses, and educators, he absorbs the combination of hard work and spiritual humility. His lasting impression that he would like to leave for future generations is simply to encourage a despaired heart.

About the Book

A colorful collection of life poetry that passes through the heart and soul the darkest and brightest moments of our journey through life. The book projects a thriving vision and striving purpose that we are defining and refining ourselves while enduring like the Greek Titan Atlas. Atlas, who is immortalized as a timeless image of a man carrying the world on his back, shows us timeless strength. And like Atlas, we carry a certain poise and tenacity of that same strength, heartache, love, courage, and most importantly sincerity which all play an intimate experience in our destiny.
