Deep Waters - Paperback

by Scott Lothian (Author)

After surviving the worst shark attack in U.S. naval history, see if Jack can piece his life back together in time to help prevent an atomic catastrophe.

Unbroken meets The Da Vinci Code.

Deep Waters is a gripping historical mystery thriller that follows Jack, a 15-year-old high school quarterback from Janesville, Wisconsin, whose life is upended by tragedy. Fleeing the problems of his past, Jack enlists in the U.S. Navy and finds himself aboard the USS Indianapolis-the fateful ship that delivered the atomic bomb that helped end World War II, only to become the site of the deadliest open-ocean shark attack in U.S. naval history.

Jack's journey spans continents and oceans-from the quiet shores of Lake Geneva to the chaos of the Philippine Sea, through military bases in Glenview and San Francisco, and finally back home. Though hailed as a hero across the country, Jack returns to a hometown that refuses to forgive his assumed past transgressions. Pressured into marrying his former girlfriend to preserve appearances, he struggles to rebuild a life haunted by loss, betrayal, and unanswered questions.

As Jack grapples with the ghosts of his past and the weight of survival, he becomes unknowingly entangled in a shadowy conflict between ancient forces of good and evil. A mysterious rumor of a second bomb aboard the Indianapolis resurfaces, threatening to ignite a new catastrophe. Years after the war, with the covert help of twin sisters-descendants of a lone Templar knight from a remote island in Japan-and his estranged son, Jack must confront his past, uncover a 700-year-old secret, and prevent the nuclear destruction of an American city.

Will Jack reclaim his destiny and find true love or succumb to forces beyond his control?

Deep Waters is book TWO of The Jonathan Dearfield Trilogy, a gripping series that blends a psychological thriller, a historical mystery-suspense hybrid, and an intense kidnapping-murder mystery.
