Darwin and The First Grandfather: A Story of Evolution - Paperback

by Peter H. Klopfer (Author), Gretchen Morrissey (Illustrator), Erika K. Honoré (Author)

When Tim's mother shows him pictures of his ancestors, the curious young boy has lots of questions: How do grandfathers have grandfathers? Where do their grandfathers come from? Who was the first grandfather? Where did he come from?

While no one knows the true answer, Tim's mother explains that there are several theories on how man and grandfathers came to be on Earth. One of the theories Tim's mother explains is that of evolution, put forth by a man named Charles Darwin.

Tim learns that Darwin grew up hiking, exploring, watching birds, and collecting beetles-filling journals with drawings and notes of his observations. Like Tim, Darwin wondered how babies could look different from their parents. In studying biology, botany, and natural science, Darwin fueled his curiosity and made worldly discoveries.

Darwin's detective work and use of the scientific method were exciting to Tim, and he wants to know more and more. What follows is an awe-inspiring journey toward learning how Darwin formulated his theories about evolution and natural selection.

Parents and children will enjoy reading and learning together with this creative and informative tale. Beautiful illustrations pair well with the curious, observant personality of the book's subject, Charles Darwin.
