Cypress Knees and Tupelo Trees: Discovering Plants and Animals of the Swamp - Hardcover

by Cathy Melvin (Author), Cathy Melvin (Illustrator)

A LIBRARY OF CONGRESS GREAT READS FROM GREAT PLACES

Uncover the mysteries of the swamp ecosystem as its plants and animals spring to life through lively rhyme and colorful painted collage.

What would you discover if you visited a swamp? Look and listen for the swamp's fascinating diversity as you search for aquatic snail snacks with Red Swamp Crayfish, glide alongside the swift-swimming shadows of slender Blackspotted Topminnows, sway in the breeze with the catkins of Smooth Alders, jump from Wood Duck's nest with day-old ducklings, and take flight with Prothonotary Warbler as he climbs toward the sky like the bright trumpet-shaped flowers of Crossvine. Meet nearly 50 plants and animals living alongside two majestic giants of the swamp, Cypress and Water Tupelo Tree.

Fans of Eric Carle's art and animals will appreciate Cathy Melvin's painted and collaged menagerie.
