Cursed - Paperback

by Scott Nicholson (Author), J. R. Rain (Author)

Albert Shipway is an insurance investigator with a broken marriage, a drinking problem, and too many regrets to count. But his personal demons are about to become terrifyingly real.

When a mysterious old woman confronts him on a crowded California street and slaps a curse on him, Albert dismisses it as the ranting of a lunatic. Until the mice appear-hundreds of them, black with a white stripe, haunting his every step and resurrecting his deepest childhood trauma.

Worse still, Albert's former lover has been found brutally murdered, and the child she bore in secret has vanished. The police want answers he doesn't have. His volatile ex-wife has disappeared. And the old woman's cryptic words about vengeance refuse to leave his head.

Desperate to break the curse and save the missing child he never knew he had, Albert must confront the sins of his past, the truth about the family he betrayed, and the power of dark magic that demands a deadly price.

Perfect for fans of supernatural noir and nerve-jangling horror, Cursed is a chilling, razor-sharp thriller that will have you questioning every shadow, every whisper... and every fear you've ever buried.

WHAT READERS ARE SAYING:

"This book is about as 'can't put it down' as you can get. This is one rapid-fire, entertaining read from start to finish. From Albert and his wallowing introspection to the angry sister to the crazy ex and all points in-between. Each character has their own distinct voice and a life of their own. Blending mystery with the arcane and a little bit of disturbing imagery here and there you get a very fun, creepy, and entertaining read from start to finish. What's your biggest fear? Highly recommended." -Amazon review

"Just finished reading Cursed by J.R. Rain and Scott Nicholson. This was a fun, lighthearted suspense/horror read. I found myself laughing out loud and being grossed out all at the same time. I've read J.R. Rain before, but this is my first read of Scott Nicholson. A very entertaining book!" -Amazon review

"J.R. Rain, you are an awesome author. I just finished the book Cursed! I was so engrossed in the book that I read all day and half the night last night then was up at 4 a.m. this morning to finish it. I had to know what happened to the baby. I am so going to suggest you and your books to everyone I know that loves to read even just once in a while. This is a total 'must read'. Loved it!" -Amazon review

"Nightmare City. A quick read because you can't put it down. I want to know what kind of nightmares caused this kind of book? The beginning reminded me a bit of the Richard Bachman/Steven King's book, Thinner, but there all similarities stopped. Steven King is even mentioned. I will sleep with my light on tonight for sure." -Amazon review

"Keeps you on the edge of your seat! I absolutely loved this book. It's different than anything I have read, and I really enjoyed it. The whole book keeps you on the edge of your seat and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. It's funny, scary, and a little sad at times... but a great story. I felt so many different emotions towards Albert throughout the book, but in the end, I was really glad the way it ended." -Amazon review

"A great thriller with magic. Cursed was incredibly thrilling. The storyline was full of magic, psycho murderers, curses, and some hilarious humor. Tabby and Albert made a great team. I loved their sarcasm and humor. This quick read was well-written. A great add to your TBR list." -Amazon review
