Colours Of The South - Paperback

by Leah Hope (Author)

The Mayor of a sleepy French village is found dead, shot through the head the morning after Bastille Day celebrations. An arrest is soon made and St Rémy breathes a sigh of relief. Or at least it does until a second murder is committed, seemingly unconnected to the first. But have they got the wrong man? Convinced that a terrible miscarriage of justice is about to be committed, avid crime fiction fan and would-be amateur sleuth Bridget Honeyman relishes the opportunity to get involved in the real-life mystery unfolding on her doorstep. As Bridget sets out to get justice for the man she believes has been wrongly accused, her brother Gil struggles to understand what drives his sister to help a complete stranger. He's worried for her safety too. Who wouldn't, with a potential serial killer on the loose? Torn between supporting Bridget in her quest for the truth and keeping her from danger, Gil too gets caught up in the frantic race to prevent the killer from claiming yet another victim. With two people already dead and a third life in danger, will the secrets of St Rémy be revealed in time? In her riveting mystery thriller, Leah Hope introduces us to a delightful new amateur sleuth in the unlikely form of fifty-something former pastry chef Bridget Honeyman. Colours of the South cleverly combines a dark murder mystery, which, in the best tradition of crime fiction has plenty of clues and red herrings, with some genuinely warm and lighthearted moments. Set against the backdrop of a charming French village and with the intrepid Bridget providing some (often unintentional) humour, it has the feel-good factor too.
