Churches Quarrel Espoused - Hardcover

by John Wise (Author)

""Churches Quarrel Espoused"" is a religious text written by John Wise, an American Congregationalist minister and political leader. The book discusses the issue of church governance and the role of the individual in the church. Wise argues that the power of the church should be in the hands of the congregation rather than a single leader or group of leaders. He also criticizes the practice of taxation by the church and advocates for a separation of church and state. The book was originally published in 1710 and has since become a significant work in the history of American religious and political thought.1715. This work is a reply in satire to certain proposals made in answer to this question: What further steps are to be taken, that the Councils may have due constitution and efficacy in supporting, preserving and well-ordering the interest of the churches in this country?
