Charles Simeon - Paperback

by Handley Moule (Author)

The story of a man who transformed from religious apathy to become one of the most influential preachers in history.

This book is a biography of the remarkable life of Charles Simeon. He was only interested in sports and games in his early life, and when he had to attend the sacrament on Easter's day, he thought that "Satan himself was as fit to attend as I." That day witnessed his conversion and the beginning of his religious journey.

He faced disapproval when he was assigned minister, and endured aggressive opposition for over a decade before it wavered, and altered into admiration and respect.

His conversion and struggles inspire any Christian to find their way to God, and encourages any minister to see their duty through no matter what obstacles may appear, and what challenges may seem impossible to overcome.

"I wished rather to suffer than to act; because in suffering I could not fail to be right; but in acting I might easily do amiss. Besides, if I suffered with a becoming spirit, my enemies, though unwittingly, must of necessity do me good; whereas if in acting I should have my own spirit unduly exercised, I must of necessity be injured in my own soul, however righteous my cause might be."
