For runners' that sometimes wish for better times, or results: Success or failure didn't have to do with their physical ability. The runners' goals where realistic, do-able however mentally something kept the runners' from achieving their desired outcome.
Surprised? You shouldn't be, after all if you only train the body how will the brain improve? We are creatures of habit. And how often have you exercised new habits, new thought processes that ignite that motivational spirit? It is not part of our school's syllabus, nor does the work environment teach you how to change your thinking. If you start to change your thinking during your run, and you feel the improvement, just imagine where else you can apply this. There are moments of thought, that are not helpful in reaching a goal. For some runners' they just pop up and go away again. For others, there is what seems like a constant stream of chatter, of internal dialogue. And unfortunately for some runners, this thinking has become second nature, without noticing it. It is part of the run, whether you planned it or not. That internal dialogue is not going to go away by itself. The thought process is in a vicious circle, that always leads back to the start.
