Blessing - Paperback

by Andrew Davison (Author)

Blessing is one of the most used but least understood of Christian terms. We want to be blessed, and to be a blessing, but do not think a great deal about what that implies. This engaging introduction unpacks the rich, many-layered concept of blessing from a variety of angles, looking at the place of blessing in the scriptures, in theology and in daily life. It explores: - What it means to 'Bless the Lord' - Blessing in terms of thanksgiving, praise, and recognition of who God is - Jesus as the Son of the Blessed One - Overcoming the opposite of blessing - Who and what is blessed - How and when we bless today With sections on vocation and the 'prosperity gospel' movement, this guide will not only help the reader to think differently and more deeply about blessing, but also about the places, people and situations that we bless.
