Beyond Gehenna: Tour of Duty - Paperback

by Scott Leddy (Author)

A thriller that's got some humor-until it doesn't. Then it becomes your worst nightmare.

Elgin Thomas thought Vietnam would be his escape. Running from a troubled past and horrific nightmares that won't let him sleep, this unlikely hero finds himself deep in the heart of Vietnam's central highland district. But there's no outrunning destiny-especially when destiny has teeth.

Thrust into a corrupt and immoral society consumed by chaos and injustice, where the laws of man bend like reeds and God has turned a deaf ear, Elgin discovers that war extracts a price far steeper than he ever imagined. The combat is brutal. The choices are impossible. And the nightmares? They're just getting started.

During a clandestine mission in Cambodia's deadly killing fields, Elgin comes face-to-face with the dreaded Khmer Rouge. Confronted by his own mortality and questioning everything he once believed, he faces an impossible choice: abandon his mission and flee, or stay and fight a battle he cannot win.

When Elgin is fatally wounded, a bad situation spirals into the unthinkable. What happens next defies explanation-a psychological thriller that transcends the boundaries between life and death, sanity and madness. This YA fantasy fiction with horror elements plunges readers into a bone-chilling depiction of war's realities and a horrifying glimpse into the afterlife that will haunt you long after the final page.

Beyond Gehenna: Tour of Duty is the explosive first volume of a two-part series-a thriller in 2026 that grabs you from the opening line and doesn't let go. Part war story, part supernatural mystery, part romance with thriller plot (because even in hell, the heart wants what it wants), this rollercoaster ride barrels toward a surprise ending you won't see coming.

Perfect for fans of woman protagonist thrillers who crave male leads with equal depth, and readers who devour psychological thriller books that blur the line between the living and the damned.

Fair warning: This isn't your typical war story. This is what happens when a soldier's battle doesn't end at death-it only gets darker.
