Be the Best at Who You Are - Paperback

by John R. Gunn (Author)

Only the few can claim to be the best of all or better than anyone else in a particular endeavor or accomplishment. But most of the rest of us can claim significant success within a sphere unique to each of us-the personality only you in the whole world can claim and the mix of challenges and opportunities only you are confronting. To assure your progress in this personal arena, author John R. Gunn offers clues to your personalized success through 75 of the time-honored Bible Proverbs that encase the wisdom and practical help that has guided adherents of the world's most renowned religions over the centuries. "In a time such as ours-one of massive change, competing claims to truth, and deep uncertainty-the need for true wisdom becomes urgent. In these reflections from the Book of Proverbs by John R. Gunn, we encounter afresh the power of biblical wisdom, a wisdom our culture desperately needs. Gunn was an articulate and prolific minister whose insightful and faithful sermons and newspaper columns spoke confident and wise truths to the first half of the twentieth century. Now, through this volume, those truths speak powerfully to a new generation." Thomas G. Long, Bandy Professor of Preaching, Candler School of Theology, Emory University, Atlanta GA. John R. Gunn's popular syndicated newspaper columns on inspirational themes appeared for over fifty years in the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette. His messages also reached listeners over 2,000 radio stations plus the Armed Forces Radio Network through the broadcast "Be Still and Know". Other of his books recently published include Those Loving Feelings: The Song of Solomon for Newlyweds and Under the Gunn: Inspiration for Preachers.
